Aww Yeah, here's another show review that was sent to me... check it out!

Paris Theater, PDX
October, 1998
Plain Jayne
Two BlockWheelie
Nothing

The doors opened about 8:30, and we arrived in time to watch "Nothing" set up thier equitment.  After getting the PA fixed, "Nothing" thrashed through a 1 hour set, one of the best opening acts I've seen to date.  Many of thier songs parodied small town life, a most memeorable being "Hick", in which the all donned cowboy hats and what turned out to be a blowup goat!  The great part was that hardly any of the band members were over 16!  "Nothing's" set ended with the demolishment of the drumset, and stage equitment, being literally thrown from the stage (which sat at 5 feet above the floor) into the audience.  After some shouting, and pyrotechnics on part of the drummer (flaming cymbal and drumsticks) the band promtly stage dived in unison into the crowd. Kickass band!

As soon as the drums from "Nothing" flew into the crowd, "Two block Wheelie" had thier bassdrum on the drum riser.  In a total contrast to "Nothing", "Two Block" were all 30 and 40 year old punksters!  Although they had a slower tempo, everybody in the crowd seemed to enjoy the music, and screams and hollers were heard after each song.  "Wheelie" finished thier set, bowed, and promply left.

The headliners "Plain Jayne" set up in total darkness, and when the strob lights kicked on, "Plain Jayne" was already shredding out the first thuderous chords.  The lights and effects were great for this set, and totally got the crowd into a frenzy.  Three pits were going last count, with bodies happily being thrown in and out.  The one gripe about "Jayne" is thier use of security, for their presence only detracted from the music and was somewhat annoying.  "Plain Jayne" had the gift of wireless guitars, and when the lead guitarist Mike Plenzo hurled himself into the crowd while still playing his solo, everyone in the theater was into it.  After finishing, Mike smashed his guitar, turned up his amp, and he and the rest of the band walked off.

It took me 3 hours to come down from this show, I recommend any of these bands extremely!
